Philippine Table Tennis Youth Tournament Visits Beijing


November 3, 2016 - The Philippine Youth Table Tennis Tournament Exchange Group visits the Philippine Embassy in Beijing. In the photo above are the young athletes, along with head of the delegation Mr. Stephen Techico, Consul General Ms. Elizabeth Te, Chinatown TV producer Ms. Lolita Ching. as well as other members of the Philippine Embassy and the Philippine Team.

菲律宾青少年乒乓球友好交流团从11月3-7号,5日来到北京,与中国首都体育学院和凤凰岭校区竞技体育校学校青少年进行乒乓球友谊交流赛外,还举行了座谈交流活动,观摩了武术课程展示。

国务院侨办宣传司副司长李国红对菲律宾交流团来访表示欢迎。她说,青少年是国家的希望,友好交流对于两国人民至关重要,用体育的力量可以拉近心的距离。

作为菲律宾青少年乒乓球友好交流团的团长,菲华各界联合会主席许中荣表示,此次交流活动旨在促进中国与菲律宾的民间交流和友谊发展。他称,体育不仅可以增强体质,也有助于培养勇敢顽强的性格、超越自我的品质和迎接挑战的意志,培养竞争意识和团队协作精神。

去年7月,菲律宾青少年乒乓球交流团首次到访北京。许中荣说,当带着孩子们游览故宫、颐和园时,感受到孩子们的兴奋和开心,自己也非常感动。“我将在有生之年将这项活动持续推广下去,促进两国民间交流和青少年的友谊。”

November 5, 2016 - The Philippine Team takes a photo with the Capital University of Physical Education and Sports Team at their Elite Sports Campus before starting the second day of their tournament. In the photo are the young athletes, as well as head of the delegation Mr. Stephen Techico and the principals of the said university.

The Philippine Youth Table Tennis Tournament went to Beijing on a four-day trip. In cooperation with the Capital University of Physical Education and Sports and the School of Elite Sports, aside from advocating a "Ping-Pong Diplomacy," they also held a dialogue and cultural exchange, and toured around the school's campus facilities.

The Deputy Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council Ms. Li Guo Hong expressed her welcome to the Philippine Team. She said, the youth is the hope of the country. A friendly exchange between two countries is very important. We can use physical capacity to close the distance of the heart.

The head of the Philippine Youth Ping Pong Tournament Team and the President of the Federation of the Filipino-Chinese Association of the Philippines, Mr. Xu Zhong Rong (Mr. Stephen Techico) said that this cultural exchange aims to improve the relationship and friendship of our people. He said, sports can not only improve our physical strength, it can also develop strength of character,

July of last year, the Philippine Youth Ping Pong Exchange Team came to Beijing for the first time. Mr. Techico said, when he sees the excitement and happiness of the children as they tour around the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, he feels very moved. "I will continue this program as long as I live, to improve the relationship and friendship of the youth in our two countries."
